Denotation and Connotation

Task

1) Write an analysis of the WaterAid advert above using point, evidence, terminology, analysis. What can you see? What are the deeper meanings in the advert? What does the advert communicate to the audience? How might an audience react after seeing the advert?

2) Now choose your own choice of advert from Google images. Save it to your documents, insert it into your blogpost and write an analysis using denotation and connotation (point, evidence, terminology, analysis), explaining what the advert is communicating to the audience.

Extension: Print advert research

1) I can see a sad child wearing scruffy clothes. The text "Dig toilets, Not graves" shows that they have no toilets and that they have man deaths as they have no toilets and because of hygiene. The advert communicates with the audience because they have text to tell the reader what they want and are implying. They are using children which will get more attentions from the audience. The audience might be upset because children are suffering and dying.

2)The advert is suppose to show happiness, friendship and enjoyment. Drinking Coca-Cola can create joyful moments and strengthen relationships with friends and family. It also may feel positive emotions and connect the product with enjoyable experiences. It might make the audience want to buy coca cola.

Extension) Lego ad because it is showing that from nothing you can build lots of stuff and have lots of ideas you can put to action. It is smart because it shows nothing only a airplane shadow and 2 piece connected together.
